Buckley Accountants originally started as the partnership Brown and Buckley in 1972.  Over the years John Buckley remained the constant factor in several partnerships, finally creating Buckley Accountants in 1997.  John passed away in February 2013, and Sarah Pender purchased the practice from John's estate and kept the name Buckley Accountants to preserve the history associated with the practice.

Principal Sarah Pender.

Sarah is a Chartered Accountant, Justice of the Peace and a registered tax agent.

Growing up Sarah always heard her father complain that it was hard for the little people to get good taxation advice outside the city, and this created her interest in accounting and taxation.

After completing year 12 at Lithgow High School, Sarah commenced a Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting at Charles Sturt University Bathurst.

Sarah first commenced work as an undergraduate accountant at Power Hansen located in Gladesville in 1998.  After spending two years in the city she decided that the country lifestyle was what she wanted and moved to the largest accounting practice in the central west,  Alan Morse & Co located in Bathurst in 2000.

Sarah remained at Alan Morse & Co as it rebranded itself as Morse Group and was the manager of the Oberon office for 8 years.  It was during this time that Sarah worked with all types and sizes of clients and strived to give them all the service they wanted and needed.  During this time Sarah also obtained a Masters of Accountancy from Charles Sturt University.

In 2009 Sarah moved from public practice to commercial accounting and took a role with Centennial Coal as the project accountant for the new Airly mine.  During this time she was responsible for the entire setup budget for this mine.

In 2013 Sarah had the opportunity to move back to public practice and purchase Buckley Accountants, this move rekindled the passion Sarah has for tax accounting and allows her to give the people in Lithgow the opportunity to access sound taxation and accounting advice and build on what John Buckley already had in place.

Sarah married Craig in 2000 (another reason for returning home) and has 3 children, Ebony, Jorja and Hunter.  When she is not at work she is running around after the kids and on the odd chance she has some free time it is usually spent camping and 4WDing.

Sarah is also an accredited gymnastics coach and judge, which is quite surprising as she has issues walking over flat surfaces.
